Shreyas Bolla
Hi! I’m Shreyas, a student attending the 7 year accelerated BS/MD program at New Jersey Institute of Technology and New Jersey Medical School. I am a biology major passionate about public health, teaching, precision medicine, and healthy living. I have been involved in wet and dry lab research experiences with Dr. Arianna Kim from Columbia University and Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed in the Rutgers University PROMIS Lab, respectively. As a Rutgers research student, I was able to implement clinical data, mostly genomic data, into AI and ML algorithms built in R to classify and regress data and create simple models to discover disease biomarkers in the context of further developing precision medicine. Under Dr. Kim, I learned about Gorlin-Goltz Syndrome and basal cell carcinoma in murine models. I learned the basics of laboratory procedure in gel electrophoresis, qPCR, and immunohistochemistry. I also spend my time volunteering as an EMT, which has given me extensive first hand clinical experience in an emergency setting. All these experiences, my insight into BS/MD applications, and background as a SAT math and english tutor have given me the tools to help you on your application journey or get you over any academic obstacles you may have!
Hey there! I'm Albin, a student in the 7 year accelerated BS/MD program at New Jersey Institute of Technology/New Jersey Medical School. I am passionate about running, global health policy, and medicine. After collaborating with a peer mentor at Harvard University, I wrote a research paper on the challenges of receiving quality maternal healthcare in India based on the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals. My paper and presentation received a gold medal from the Harvard International Review and is available on their website. This paper was completed during the time I became a USA Track and Field National champion in the 1500m race for 15-16 y/o boys. My success in my BS/MD applications came from my performance in the interviews with multiple interviewers extending a personal invitation to their universities. Through the lessons that I've learned from the classroom, track, and my own BS/MD applications, I'll help you craft a strong application that will boost your chances to get you into the program of your dreams.
Aayush Mehta
Hey! I’m Aayush, a student in the 7-year accelerated BS/MD program at New Jersey Institute of Technology/New Jersey Medical School. I am a biology major passionate about athletics and medicine, particularly orthopedics and neuroscience in sports. I have gained clinical experience shadowing in gastroenterology, pulmonology, allergy, and cardiology, witnessing and/or performing patient vitals, EKG and PVR tests, and food/environment allergy tests. Outside of academic success and medical experience, I participated extensively in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), winning NLC National Champion once and top 3 in New Jersey’s SLC four times. Also having played baseball year-round since the age of 6, I was chosen for three Perfect Game All-Tournament Teams and named Middlesex County All-Star, Sayreville’s ‘Outstanding Baseball Player,’ All-White Division, and All-Area 3rd Team as captain of the varsity team. Although not directly relating to medicine, these extracurriculars shaped my leadership and communication skills, contributing to my success in the interview portion of the application process. With years of mentorship experience in Peer Leadership as well as Heroes and Cool Kids, by using my well-rounded application as a guide, I am confident that I can help you craft a multifaceted application to lead you to success!
Arush Mishra
Hey! My name is Arush Mishra, and I am a student in the 7-year accelerated BS/MD program at New Jersey Institute of Technology/New Jersey Medical School. My passions lie in exploring the intersection of engineering technologies and medicine, which inspired my undergraduate major in Biomedical Engineering. Outside of my engineering background and academic success at a top-ranking magnet school in New Jersey, I made it a priority to give back to my community through volunteering at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the Menlo Park Veterans’ Memorial home, and in the local government as part of a mayoral campaign. Through my work with the Waksman Institute of Microbiology at Rutgers University, I have experience with several lab procedures including PCR, enzyme digests, and running gels. In addition, I have participated in Odyssey of the Mind competitions since elementary school, winning regional championships and numerous state and international competitions. With my extracurricular achievements and application as a guide, I will teach you how to embrace an interdisciplinary approach to your medical applications and assist in drawing connections between your various passions and medicine.
